Fall Forward

As a midwestern girl, I would like to announce that sweater weather has arrived, or has it??? The calendar says Sept 22nd; the first day of Fall.  However, the outside air is confused, topping out temps in the mid 80’s.  According to accu-weather, the temps should be dropping…so put on your jeans and hoodie. load the the fam up in the car ,and head to the pumpkin patch, pick some apples and enjoy those magnificent fall colors on your drive. 

To our family, the fragrance of Fall is chicken roasting in the oven, acorn squash baking, and the smell of dutch apple cake cooling on the counter (our favorite). All the while, football is going on in the background—Go-Pack-Go—as we sip a mug of hot apple cider with a cinnamon stick.  Then the real game begins—How long can we stand the chill in the morning before we finally give in and turn the furnace on—oh that distinct smell of heat from the first use of the furnace in months. Then we all know, Fall is here to stay.
